In October 2023, Badinotti Group launched Greenline in Chile, a line designed to help our clients reduce their environmental impact in aquaculture operations. Today, one year later, we are proud to share our achievements and renew our commitment to developing solutions that promote sustainability and respect for the environment.
Greenline is not just a set of products and services, but a philosophy that encourages our clients to operate more responsibly while allowing us to invest together in local Chilean communities. This line includes nets made from more durable and sustainable materials (Next), which require less frequent replacements and thus have a much lower carbon footprint. Additionally, our maintenance and cleaning systems are certified under ISO 14.001, which drives us to develop systems focused on optimizing resource use, minimizing both water consumption and the need for harsh chemicals, enabling our clients to significantly reduce their environmental impact.
A key component of the Greenline model is our “green dollars” system, an incentive that rewards both the community and our clients for their sustainable purchases. Each purchase of Greenline products or services accumulates a percentage of the invoice as green dollars. Once a total of 10,000 green dollars is reached, we collaborate with the client to allocate these funds to projects that benefit their social or environmental surroundings, according to their preferences.
The first year has been a success. Thanks to the support of our clients, Greenline has made a positive environmental impact. In concrete terms, optimizing our maintenance processes has reduced 7,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions over the past year, mainly by improving waste management and transportation. Additionally, by using UHMWPE nets, which are lighter and more durable, our clients have saved an additional 400 tons of CO₂. Overall, the Greenline model has helped avoid the emission of 7,600 tons of CO₂, equivalent to the annual consumption of 1,600 cars.
In this first year, 13 clients have joined this initiative. Among them, Aquachile stands out, having accumulated over 14,000 green dollars through its purchase of sustainable nets. Other clients, such as MultiX, Camanchaca, and Australis, are close to reaching the goal, which will allow them to invest these funds in social and environmental projects during 2025.
We are already coordinating with Aquachile to carry out the first social investments in 2024, ensuring that these resources generate a real benefit in their communities.
